With a bilge pump on your kayak, you will easily be able to handle any unexpectedly wet situations you may find yourself in when kayaking.
The pump complements your paddle float as a perfect kit when kayaking alone, but both are equally important to have with you when kayaking with others.
How do I use a bilge pump for kayaking?
When you have returned to your seat after an unexpected (or expected) swim, there is often a lot of water left in the kayak. This is when your bilge pump comes in handy. Start by putting on your sprayskirt to protect from more water splashing in from potential waves. Then open up a bit on the side that the waves are not coming from and stick your pump in here.
Place the paddle with the blades up 90 degrees from your kayak and hold it against the kayak by resting your elbows on it. Now you have both hands free to pump out the water from your kayak. Or as Emil likes to say, "Pump yourself warm."

Melker is a classic swedish name and it was the name of a well known character in Saltkråkan, a television show that started 1964 in Sweden. The script was written by Astrid lindgren Swedens most famous children author.
The series takes place in Stockholm archipelago and therefor it is something many swedes think about when they think about the archipelago.
We took the name Melker as a hommage to the Tv-series and see it as one of our missions to help people to great experiences on and by the water.
