Noah aka Great Lakes Sea Kayaker (USA)
Favorite kayak: Melker Värmdö HV in Cork-Core
First time in a kayak: 2012
Instagram: @greatlakesseakayaker
I started recreational kayaking in 2012, back then I was unaware of the existence of Sea Kayaking and what it had to offer.
In 2019 I came across videos of sea kayakers surfing waves and exploring incredible locations by kayak, that was something I was totally interested in.
After purchasing my first sea kayak in 2019, I quickly realized how much I enjoyed this incredible sport. In 2021, I taught myself how to roll by watching YouTube videos since all kayak clinics were shutdown during Covid.
Sea Kayaking has allowed me to challenge myself and experience The Great Lakes in the purest form. I enjoy creating videos and inspiring people to create their own experiences kayaking The Great Lakes.
Why do you paddle the Melker Värmdö HV?
The Great Lakes is home to 21% of the World’s Fresh Water, protecting that resource means a great deal to me. Melker is a brand committed to using revolutionary technologies in the kayaking industry by producing lightweight, high performance kayaks made from sustainable plant based materials.
The Värmdö is not only a head turner but a true performance kayak, it a very rewarding design in shorter package, from playing in dynamic conditions to exploring islands this kayak does it all with ease. The lightweight design makes it feel like an exotic sports car on and off the water.
Kayaking around Lake Erie exploring islands and playing in the waves!
My PFD, two paddles (Greenland+Euro), plenty of cameras and stoke factor!
From exploring local islands, playing with different rolling combos or experiencing the adrenaline rush of surfing waves, not a day passes by without thinking about hitting the water.
Fruits, jerky, nuts & always pack the coffee.
I noticed some large birds gathering on some rocks, paddling closer revealed a flock of white pelicans! After hearing stories about their presents around The Great Lakes, it was awesome to witness them from the seat of my Melker.
